A 24-year-old driver of a BYD Seal has pleaded not guilty to three traffic offences, including causing the death of a five-year-old girl in a six-vehicle crash along Jalan Kuching, Kuala Lumpur, on 10 October 2026.
Raeven Goh Wey Haur appeared before Magistrate Aliaa Anwar at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrates’ Court on 15 October, where he denied all three charges brought against him under the Road Transport Act 1987.
The case attracted significant public attention after footage of the collision circulated widely on social media, showing the electric sedan allegedly colliding with other vehicles before leaving the scene.

Goh faces three charges relating to the fatal accident, which occurred at approximately 3.44pm as traffic was moving slowly along Jalan Kuching towards Segambut.
The first charge, under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, accuses him of causing the death of five-year-old Asiah Ahmad Syahir through reckless or dangerous driving. If convicted, the offence carries a prison sentence of between five and 10 years, a fine of RM20,000 to RM50,000, and disqualification from holding a driving licence for at least five years.
He also pleaded not guilty to a second charge under Section 42(1) of the same Act, which concerns reckless and dangerous driving that endangers other road users. Upon conviction, this offence carries a possible prison term of up to five years, a fine ranging from RM5,000 to RM15,000, and potential disqualification from holding a driving licence.
The third charge, under Section 52(1), concerns an alleged failure to stop and report the accident. A conviction under the relevant provisions carries a maximum fine of RM2,000, imprisonment of up to six months, or both.
The penalties stated above apply only if the accused is convicted. Goh has pleaded not guilty to all three charges, and the case will proceed through the court process.
Court Grants RM36,000 Bail With Conditions

After hearing submissions from both the prosecution and defence, the magistrate granted Goh bail of RM36,000, with one surety covering all three charges. His father reportedly paid the bail, which was completed at around 11.30am.
The prosecution had sought RM50,000 bail and requested that Goh surrender his passport and have his driving licence suspended while the case was ongoing. The defence, meanwhile, argued for a lower bail amount, submitting that Goh was not a flight risk and that his family had cooperated with the police investigation.
The court ultimately ordered Goh to surrender his passport and suspended his driving licence pending the disposal of the case.
Goh had been arrested at approximately 11.30am on 14 October, shortly after being discharged from a private hospital in Damansara, where he had received treatment for a concussion sustained in the crash. He was subsequently taken to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters before being brought to court.
The court has fixed 19 November for the next mention of the case.

The fatal collision took place at around 3.44pm on 10 October and involved five cars and a motorcycle.
Based on preliminary police investigations and reports of the incident, the BYD Seal allegedly struck the rear of a Perodua Bezza travelling along Jalan Kuching towards Segambut. The impact caused the Bezza to spin out of control and move across the road.
The collision also involved a motorcycle before the Bezza reportedly crashed into three other vehicles: a Nissan Almera, a Toyota Alphard and a Perodua Myvi. The incident resulted in a total of six vehicles and one motorcycle being involved in the pile-up.
The crash footage subsequently went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention to the circumstances surrounding the collision and the driver's alleged actions after the impact.
Police later identified and arrested the BYD driver after locating him at the private medical facility where he had sought treatment.

Asiah was travelling in the rear seat of the Perodua Bezza with her family when the collision occurred. She sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead while being taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL).
Her 30-year-old father, who was driving the Bezza, suffered an injury to his right hand. The 33-year-old motorcyclist involved in the collision also sustained head injuries. Reports indicated that the occupants or drivers of the other three cars were not injured.
The tragedy has left Asiah's family seeking justice as the legal proceedings begin. Her parents were present in the public gallery during Goh's court appearance but declined to comment to the media.
With the accused having pleaded not guilty, the case is expected to continue as the court considers the charges brought against him.
The incident has also renewed public attention on road safety and the serious consequences that dangerous driving can have for motorists, passengers and other road users.
