During the pandemic, many Malaysians were dying to go for a trip overseas as we were stuck here for two years with restrictions to interstate unless we have a police letter.
Thankfully, Malaysia is now in the endemic phase and so far, the number of daily covid-19 cases is hovering below 2,000 cases.
However, the one thing that&rsquo;s keeping many Malaysians from going abroad is cost as the currency exchange is pretty high now which makes it not ideal for travelling. But what if you take an alternative option of travelling locally and absorb the best of what Malaysia has to offer.
Recently, a Penangite had went viral on Facebook after he shared his road trip around Peninsular Malaysia with his significant other.

The journey started off by connecting the dots around Peninsular Malaysia via the Malaysia Federal Route 3 and 5.
The states travelled during this trip are as followed:
Penang - Perak - Kelantan - Terengganu - Pahang - Johor - Melaka - Negeri Sembilan - Selangor - Kuala Lumpur - Selangor - Perak - Pahang &ndash; Penang
For those who normally only sits in the car and sleeps almost the whole way through, you probably don&rsquo;t know that the Malaysia Federal Route 5 (FT5) is considered as the North-South Federal Highway which runs long the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia and spans from Jelapang, Perak to Skudai, Johor. The Malaysia Federal Route 3 (FT3) is another North-South highway which runs along the east coast which spans from Rantau Panjang, Kelantan to Johor Bahru, Johor.
Time to check out the places he went to
According to Mok JC, the road trip he took spanned for over 11 days and 10 nights across 10 different states. The best part of it all, as a professional photographer, he managed to take many stunning pictures along the way.
Not going to lie, some of the places look like it&rsquo;s straight out of a K-Drama!
Perak

As Perak has some pretty amazing spots to visit (aside from the usual stop by Ipoh). Mok visited Pular Banding Public Jetty, Tasik Temenggor, Jambatan Timur Tasik Temenggor all located in Grik Perak. The area showed off the lush greenery and open waters of the area. He later took a drive up towards the R&amp;R Amiza Titiwangsa which is also located in Gerik. The place showed off a little windmill at the rest stop which is actually placed 1000m above the sea level.

And if you&rsquo;re a movie junkie, you&rsquo;ll probably understand the vibe of the Terowong Semi Lebuhraya Timur Barat as if it&rsquo;s straight out of the movie scene such as <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfYC_CBNtiM">James Bond&rsquo;s Quantum of Solace</a> car chase scene.
Kelantan

Next up, there&rsquo;s Kelantan where you&rsquo;ll be able to see the Guillemard Railway. It&rsquo;s a cool piece of architecture and shows how important these sort of transports is to get around Malaysia during the early days. The railway is considered one of the oldest railway bridges in Malaysia after the Victoria Bridge in Perak. It was constructed between 1920 and 1924 and officially opened in 1925.

Till this day it stands as one of the longest railway bridges in the country. Although destroyed during World Way II in Malaya by the British forces in 1941, it was later reconstructed and reopened in 1948.

Another place which looks like it&rsquo;s straight out of the movies and something that doesn&rsquo;t look like it&rsquo;s in Malaysia would be Pantai Senok in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. In all honesty, it looks like something straight out of Nami Island, South Korea where the famous Winter Sonata K-Drama was filmed.

Some would say Kelantan is one of the most boring state and is an &ldquo;extreme&rdquo; Muslim state. In fact, it is more culturally diverse as there&rsquo;s even quite a few Buddhist temples in Tumpat.
Terengganu

After Kelantan, you can take a drive down south to Terengganu which is a state famous for food such as Otak-otak, Satar and almost every east coast Malaysian&rsquo;s favourite, Nasi Kerabu and Keropok Lekor.
Aside form food, Terengganu boasts a lot of nice views. If you&rsquo;re a hiker, you should stop by Bukit Keluang in Kampung Raja and take the breathing views it has to offer. Since you&rsquo;re in the east coast, you should also check out their sunrises as they are like no other.

Pahang

After Terengganu, driving down south more and you&rsquo;ll find yourself in Kuantan. When in Kuantan, there&rsquo;s actually a lot to do from chilling by the beach, exploring the down as well as caf&eacute; hopping as there actually have some pretty nice cafes around town.
Or maybe you&rsquo;re not a fan of the hot sun? Then you can take a drive up towards Cameron highlands and enjoy the cool air and maybe get some tea.
Appreciation of culture in Malaysia

It&rsquo;s astonishing to see how many of the photos were captured from the eyes (or shall I say lens) of a drone.
If you think you&rsquo;ll need a fancy car for the trip, well I&rsquo;ll have you know that the man did it in every Malaysians favourite car, the Perodua Myvi AKA the King of the road.

Not all journeys are smooth as Mok had also ran into trouble on his first day when his radiator overheated. Some other stuff like maps not loading and no coverage along the way was just some minor setbacks a road trip would have.
How much did the whole trip cost?
To think that it was a 11-day 10 night trip and there was two people, all in all it actually cost a total of RM2600++ for two people.

Now that sounds like fun.
All in all, it also goes to show that you don&rsquo;t need to spend a large amount of money to travel to other countries when Malaysia has a lot of offer. Plus, this is only Peninsular Malaysia, not yet East Malaysia where it&rsquo;s also packed full of adventures and wonders to see.
Well, I guess there&rsquo;s only one thing to do now, brb calling my friends and planning when I can leave leave to visit some of these paces👀

Controversial internet personality Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, known for his provocative prank videos and live-stream antics, has been moved to a high-security facility in the Philippines as he awaits trial for multiple legal violations. The Russian-American content creator, who has over 10 million YouTube subscribers and a significant following on streaming platform Kick, was arrested in April 2025 following a string of allegedly harassing and disruptive incidents involving Filipino citizens.
On 11 June 2025, Zdorovetskiy was transferred from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) detention centre in Bicutan to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility in Muntinlupa, Metro Manila. This move signals a shift from administrative detention to a more stringent custodial arrangement due to the seriousness of the allegations against him.
Who Is Vitaly Zdorovetskiy?

Born in Russia and holding both American and Russian citizenships, Vitaly rose to prominence through viral prank videos that often skirt the line between humour and public nuisance. He has also dabbled in live streaming, with a fanbase attracted to his unpredictable, confrontational content.
However, his notoriety has been marred by frequent controversies. In his early content, Vitaly was known for shock-based humour, but in recent years, his antics have escalated into confrontational &ldquo;in real life&rdquo; (IRL) stunts. In April 2025, during a series of live streams in the Philippines, he was accused of harassing locals, attempting to kiss a security guard without consent, and even allegedly stealing.
The resulting public outcry was swift, with Filipino authorities responding by detaining him. The Bureau of Immigration confirmed that the arrest was prompted by multiple reports of public disorder and violations of immigration laws. Notably, officials from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) confirmed that Zdorovetskiy admitted to several of the alleged acts.

Despite his attorney&rsquo;s efforts to secure bail and his offer to voluntarily report to authorities if released, the BI denied Zdorovetskiy's request. Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado emphasised that Vitaly&rsquo;s case is not merely administrative in nature but a matter of upholding Philippine law and protecting public order.
&ldquo;This is not simply an administrative concern&mdash;it is a matter of upholding the integrity of our immigration system,&rdquo; Viado stated. &ldquo;We cannot allow deportation proceedings to be delayed or derailed by public figures using their platform for sympathy or manipulation.&rdquo;
He added that foreign nationals, regardless of celebrity status, must respect local laws or face legal consequences.
The denial of bail and transfer to BJMP Muntinlupa suggest Philippine authorities are taking a tough stance, especially after rising public concern over foreign social media influencers allegedly abusing their platform to disrespect host countries.
Prison Conditions, Health Decline, and Public Backlash
Following his arrest on 2 April 2025, Vitaly&rsquo;s conditions in custody have drawn attention. Reports surfaced alleging that the YouTuber was being held in a sweltering cell with no air conditioning. Images released on social media on 16 June showed a visibly thinner Vitaly, sparking concern among fans. Observers noted significant weight and muscle loss, with noticeable changes in his facial structure.

Initially, some reports speculated he could be detained for up to three years, but legal analysts now estimate a potential sentence closer to 18 months &mdash; if found guilty. Nevertheless, his legal battles are far from over. As of now, there is no confirmed trial date nor clarity on how long the proceedings may take.
President Ferdinand &ldquo;Bongbong&rdquo; Marcos Jr himself weighed in on the controversy. In a public statement, he condemned the YouTuber&rsquo;s actions, saying: &ldquo;One of the things we saw this Sunday was the infuriating behaviour of a foreign vlogger toward our fellow citizens. Whether he was joking or not, what Filipino wouldn&rsquo;t feel their blood boil watching that?&rdquo;
Deportation Only After Due Process
Once the local court cases are resolved, Zdorovetskiy is expected to be deported from the Philippines as an &ldquo;undesirable alien.&rdquo; However, complications remain. Both the United States and Russia have thus far declined to take custody of him, potentially prolonging his stay in the Philippines even after sentencing.
The BI reiterated that deportation cannot proceed until all legal matters are settled. Commissioner Viado made clear that hospitality must never be mistaken for tolerance of disrespect or illegal activity.
&ldquo;Foreign nationals are welcome in the Philippines&mdash;but they are expected to obey our laws and respect our communities. Those who choose otherwise must face the appropriate legal consequences,&rdquo; he said.
Until then, Zdorovetskiy remains behind bars in Muntinlupa with no bail, no release date, and a trial that could stretch on for months.

The only relative she had ever mentioned was her maternal aunt, who had moved to Singapore many years ago. This aunt, now estimated to be around 74 years old, is presumed to be her only surviving family member. However, no direct contact information for the aunt is known, making the search more difficult.
Her colleagues, heartbroken by the manner in which she passed, have since appealed for public assistance in finding this relative so that Lo can be laid to rest by family, not strangers.

Public complaints about police misconduct also surged, with 2,637 reports filed in just five months&mdash;1,892 formal complaints and 745 public tips. In response, PDRM launched the Aduan JIPS PDRM app, offering a more transparent platform for the public to report wrongdoing.

Azri&rsquo;s remarks came as part of his final tour of duty, with his retirement scheduled for 26 June 2025, marking the end of a 37-year career in the police service. His departure comes at a pivotal moment, as PDRM faces mounting pressure to reform and rebuild trust with the public.
