Shermaine had ordered &frac14; Chicken with 2 Sides (RM29.90)!
For her spice levels, I guess she took it easy and got one meal in mild sauce and one more in lemon and herb. As for her sides, she&rsquo;s gone with the aromatic Mediterranean Rice along with Garlic Bread (RM8.90) paired with the PERi-PERi Soup (RM8.90) to add some flavor!

Nando&rsquo;s chicken is usually marinated in their special sauce for 24hrs before they flame it up on the grill, giving the kickin&rsquo; flavor that we all love! But a good chicken always goes best with PERi-PERi Chips and the Chargrilled Vegetables as it promotes a well rounded meal.

If you&rsquo;re thinking of having something sweet, Nando&rsquo;s also offers desserts on the menu! With a variety of selections, Sharmaine had chosen the Choc-A-Lot Muffin (RM7.90) which has a smooth and rich chocolatey taste.

Many of us are familiar with Nando&rsquo;s. In fact, it's actually one of many restaurants that Malaysian&rsquo;s love to eat at whether it being a nice meal with family and friends or even for that post-workout meal for protein.&nbsp;

The restaurant was named after one of their original founders, Fernando Duarte.
2) Decor

Most of their decor is actually custom-bought as the theme is a mix of both African and Portuguese themed. All of the art work in the restaurant is native to South Africa and is sourced by their company&rsquo;s Art Initiative.

Their PERi-PERi sauce originates from a traditional African recipe made from spices, lemons, onion, garlic and the &lsquo;special ingredient&rsquo; African bird&rsquo;s eye chili which has a spice level of 50,000 to 100,000 Scoville units.

Recently, ZUS Coffee officially launched its brand-new &ldquo;ZUS Tea Series&rdquo;, diversifying its previously coffee-dominated menu to tap into Malaysia&rsquo;s booming milk tea craze. The new range features three flavours &ndash; Dark Oolong Milk Tea, Jasmine Milk Tea, and White Peach Oolong Milk Tea &ndash; each available hot or iced.
It didn&rsquo;t take long for netizens to notice the strategic similarities to CHAGEE, a leading premium tea franchise in Malaysia. X (formally known as Twitter) user @fdajesfry remarked, &ldquo;ZUS now has a Tea Series and they&rsquo;re clearly going for CHAGEE&rsquo;s target market, they put White Peach Oolong Milk Tea at the top of the list.&rdquo; The user rated the new drinks 2 out of 5 stars, citing artificial taste and overpowering fragrance.
Still, some online users applauded ZUS for its daring move, recognising it as a calculated expansion that responds to growing demand for milk teas &ndash; especially among a younger crowd shifting their loyalties from international brands to local players.

What was meant to be a joyous getaway turned into a harrowing experience when several individuals fell violently ill after indulging in a lok lok feast at Genting Sempah, Pahang. The aftermath saw multiple guests suffering from severe food poisoning, with some requiring hospitalisation, leaving the group frustrated and deeply concerned.

She and a group of 36 friends had rented villas for a three-day, two-night retreat near the Pahang-Selangor border. During their stay, they noticed a well-known lok lok (skewered food) truck serving guests at a neighbouring villa. Intrigued by the sight, they decided to book the same service for their celebration the following evening, paying RM2,000 for a meal meant for 40 people.
From Feast to Food Poisoning in Hours

The meal commenced at 6 PM on 1st February, and the group eagerly tucked in, expecting a delightful dining experience. However, just four hours later, disaster struck. More than ten people in the group began suffering from extreme vomiting and diarrhoea&mdash;undeniable signs of food poisoning. As the night progressed, the severity of the symptoms escalated, and by morning, two members had to be rushed to the hospital for intravenous drips, while others sought treatment at nearby clinics.
The repercussions of the incident went beyond health issues. Several group members were forced to take sick leave from work, while children attending international schools had to miss classes. The financial burden from medical expenses, combined with lost productivity, only added to their distress.
A Struggle for Accountability

Determined to seek justice, Joey contacted the food truck company, requesting a full refund of RM2,000 and additional reimbursement of RM3,375 for medical expenses incurred by the group. However, her efforts were met with denial and deflection. The company refused to take responsibility, instead shifting the blame onto the driver, claiming that he had accepted the booking independently without official company authorisation.
Joey was not convinced by this explanation. She had personally witnessed the driver calling the company to confirm the booking before proceeding. Adding to her suspicions, she pointed out that the food truck that arrived for their event was different from the one they had initially seen at the neighbouring villa.
In a further attempt to absolve itself, the company suggested that the food poisoning might have resulted from something the group had consumed earlier in the day. However, Joey quickly dismissed this claim. She explained that the group had split into five separate clusters throughout the day, each eating different meals&mdash;with some even skipping lunch entirely&mdash;yet every single person who ate the lok lok that evening fell ill.
A Wider Food Safety Concern

This incident sheds light on a concerning issue regarding food safety standards and hygiene practices among mobile food vendors. Joey voiced her apprehension, questioning how many more unsuspecting patrons might have suffered similar cases of food poisoning from the same vendor without realising the source.
&ldquo;If this particular lok lok truck had been operating at a pasar malam, how many more people would have gotten food poisoning? Would they also blame it on other food and let the matter go?&rdquo; she asked.
She did not hold back in criticising the company&rsquo;s handling of the situation, calling their response &ldquo;irresponsible&rdquo; and highlighting the gravity of food poisoning incidents.
&ldquo;Food poisoning is not something to take lightly. I am sharing this publicly to put pressure on the business because of their irresponsibility and lack of concern for hygiene. I can accept the financial loss, but what I want is empathy,&rdquo; she wrote.
The Need for Stricter Hygiene Regulations
This incident underscores the urgent need for stricter food safety regulations to safeguard public health. Food truck operators must be held to high hygiene standards in food handling, storage, and preparation to prevent such harmful occurrences.
Authorities should take proactive measures by increasing inspections and enforcing stricter penalties for food vendors found guilty of negligence. Incidents like this highlight the importance of holding businesses accountable to ensure that consumers are not left vulnerable to foodborne illnesses.
Until such measures are properly implemented, consumers must exercise caution when dining at mobile food vendors, particularly in high-traffic areas. Food safety should never be compromised, and businesses must prioritise hygiene and quality to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
