A Vietnamese passenger was fined VND4 million (approximately RM650) after joking about carrying a bomb while disembarking from a Malaysia Airlines flight at Hanoi&rsquo;s Noi Bai International Airport. The offhand remark triggered a full-scale security response, serving as a stark reminder that jokes about explosives are no laughing matter in the context of aviation safety.
Offhand Comment Triggers Emergency Protocol

The incident took place on 22 June 2025, shortly after Malaysia Airlines flight MH752 from Kuala Lumpur landed in Hanoi. As passengers were exiting the aircraft, a flight attendant approached one of the male passengers and inquired about the long, black carry-on case he was holding. The man responded with a single word&mdash;&ldquo;Bomb.&rdquo;
Though seemingly brief, the response set off the airport's full emergency response protocol. The crew immediately alerted authorities, leading to the passenger being escorted off the aircraft. He was detained and questioned by a coordinated team involving immigration police, airport police, aviation security personnel, Malaysia Airlines officials, and staff from Vietnam Airport Ground Services (VIAGS).
No Threat Found, But Fine Imposed

A comprehensive inspection was carried out on both the passenger and his luggage. The black case in question was thoroughly examined and found to contain only a computer keyboard and a mouse. No weapons, explosives, or prohibited items were discovered.
The man later admitted that his comment was intended as a joke, claiming he was unaware of how serious such statements are taken in aviation contexts. He apologised to the authorities, acknowledging his poor judgement. Despite the absence of any real threat, he was fined VND4 million under Vietnamese civil aviation regulations for causing public alarm and disrupting airport operations.
Airport Authorities Issue Public Warning

An officer from the airport&rsquo;s Emergency Command Centre added that had the joke been made during boarding or pre-flight procedures, the consequences could have been even more severe. &ldquo;The flight could have been delayed or grounded, and security screening halted,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;Even false alarms can cost time, money, and cause stress to hundreds of people.&rdquo;

Vietnamese Passenger Fined RM650 Over Bomb Joke On Malaysia Airlines Flight

From 1st July 2025, Malaysians will be able to renew and activate their My50 unlimited travel pass entirely through the Touch &lsquo;n Go (TNG) eWallet app, as part of a nationwide push to digitalise public transport systems.
The days of long queues at Rapid KL counters may soon be over. According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, in partnership with Touch &lsquo;n Go, has launched a digital version of the My50 Travel Pass, offering greater convenience for urban commuters.

Previously, renewing the monthly pass required commuters to line up and use their MyKad (NRIC) for activation. With the new system, users can perform the entire process from their smartphones in a matter of minutes &mdash; eliminating wait times that could previously stretch to 45 minutes or more at peak hours.
&ldquo;This move aligns with our efforts to modernise public transport and push towards a fully digital and cashless society,&rdquo; said Loke during the launch. &ldquo;A world-class public transport system is not just about having trains and buses; it&rsquo;s also about seamless digital infrastructure.&rdquo;
How It Works: My50 on Your Phone

To renew or activate the My50 Travel Pass through the TNG eWallet app, users must have:

<li>A verified TNG eWallet account with eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) completed</li>
</ul>
Step-by-step guide to renewal:
<ol>
<li>Open the TNG eWallet app and complete eKYC if you haven&rsquo;t already.</li>
<li>Go to &ldquo;Travel Pass&rdquo; via the &ldquo;More&rdquo; tab on the home screen.</li>
<li>Tap your NFC-enabled TNG card on your phone to link it.</li>
<li>Select the My50 Travel Pass and your preferred activation date.</li>
<li>Agree to the terms and complete payment.</li>
<li>Tap your TNG card again to activate the pass.</li>
</ol>
The entire process can be done from home or on the go. Once activated, users will enjoy 30 days of unlimited rides on all Rapid KL services &ndash; including LRT, MRT, BRT, Monorail, and feeder buses &ndash; all for RM50 per month.
It&rsquo;s important to note that the My50 pass is only available to Malaysian citizens, and each pass can only be linked to one Touch &lsquo;n Go card at a time. A minimum card balance of RM5 is still required when using the pass on public transport.
A Boon for 250,000+ Users &mdash; and Growing

Prasarana CEO Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah said that the digital upgrade is designed to enhance user experience by reducing friction and expanding access to more tech-savvy urban dwellers.
&ldquo;This step is not just about saving time,&rdquo; said Azharuddin. &ldquo;It enhances the travel experience by giving more flexibility and convenience to passengers.&rdquo;
Part of a Bigger Digital Vision
The My50 digitalisation is part of a broader agenda to overhaul Malaysia&rsquo;s public transport infrastructure into a smarter, more efficient system. Loke confirmed that similar upgrades will be applied to other offerings, including the MyCity Pass, later this year.
He also called on public transport operators nationwide to adopt emerging technologies like AI-driven payment systems, to improve service quality and reduce human error.
&ldquo;All future town developments must consider smart mobility infrastructure such as integrated public transport hubs, walkable streets, and proper bus stops,&rdquo; Loke added, emphasising the need for holistic transport planning.
No Plans to Retire MyKad Activation (Yet)

My50 Digital Upgrade: Renew RM50 Unlimited Travel Pass via Touch ’n Go App Starting 1 July

A 20-year-old female student from Kuching, Sarawak, was tragically found murdered in her dormitory room at the Mutiara Ville condominium in Cyberjaya on Tuesday, 25 June 2025. The victim, who was pursuing a Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Physiotherapy at a private university, was discovered lying unconscious with serious head injuries by a close friend around 10am.
The friend had visited the unit after failing to get in touch with the victim and promptly alerted the authorities. Emergency services later confirmed that the student had died at the scene, with police quickly launching a murder investigation.
Alone During Semester Break

According to early investigations, the victim had been living in a shared condominium unit with five housemates. However, all five had returned to their respective hometowns for the mid-year holidays on 21 June, leaving the young woman alone in the residence. She had reportedly stayed behind to prepare for her final examinations.
Sources revealed that she was well-liked and academically driven, and there had been no prior reports of disputes or personal issues that might have led to the violent incident.
No Signs of Forced Entry or Sexual Assault

Sepang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman, confirmed that there were no signs of a break-in or forced entry at the premises, suggesting the suspect may have gained access through other means.
A post-mortem conducted at the Serdang Hospital Forensic Department found that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, inflicted by a hard object. Police also stated that the examination showed no evidence of sexual assault, correcting misinformation that had circulated online and across social media platforms.
Victim&rsquo;s Valuables Missing &amp; ATM Card Used After Murder

Police reported that several personal belongings of the victim were missing from the scene, including her laptop, mobile phone, cash, and ATM card. In a disturbing development, Assistant Commissioner Norhizam confirmed that the victim&rsquo;s ATM card was used to make between five and six cash withdrawals following her death. These transactions occurred at various locations across the Klang Valley, providing police with important leads.
&ldquo;We believe the male suspect began withdrawing money almost immediately after the murder took place,&rdquo; Norhizam said. &ldquo;This has given us valuable digital evidence that we are now using to help trace the suspect&rsquo;s identity and location.&rdquo;
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from ATM machines and other public areas near the transaction sites in hopes of identifying the individual responsible.
Public Urged to Assist Investigation
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Authorities are now calling on members of the public who may have any information about the incident or the suspect to come forward.
Witnesses or anyone with leads are urged to contact Investigating Officer Assistant Superintendent Mohd Husny Hussien directly at 012-930 7860 or report to the nearest police station.
The police also reminded the public to refrain from spreading false information or engaging in speculation, as this could compromise the investigation or cause unnecessary distress to the victim&rsquo;s family.
Shock and Grief in University Community
News of the murder has sent shockwaves through the university and the wider public. Friends, classmates, and lecturers expressed deep sorrow at the senseless loss of a bright and dedicated young woman. Many took to social media to offer condolences and call for swift justice.
&ldquo;This is every parent&rsquo;s nightmare,&rdquo; one user wrote. &ldquo;She stayed behind to study, and now her life is gone. We need answers.&rdquo;
